To earn any of the game's trophies, cosmetics or supply points, you must go through its story campaign with other people. This puts you at a unique disadvantage if you are not into the whole online multiplayer thing. When Back 4 Blood's beta was released in August, gamers were already voicing concerns about how its solo mode did not track your progress or even record basic stats. Games Back 4 Blood Does Not Support Single Player Progression "Back 4 Blood" is best experienced online with firends or even strangers, as it relies so heavily on teamwork. Then you have to account for the jittery newbies as well, who are liable to get panicked and make mistakes that could have severe consequences for the rest of the party. Will they get into the spirit of things and watch over their allies, or will they just be looking out for themselves and ditch you at the first sign of trouble? You can never tell what type of person they are going to be. If you are relying on somebody else -whom you have never met before-to watch your back, there is a palpable sense of tension. There is just no substitute for that feeling of unease you only get by partnering up with strangers who you do not fully trust yet, and who might not trust you either.
This aspect of social interaction is one of the defining traits of Back 4 Blood and it cannot be replicated by playing alongside emotionless A.I. The idea is to prioritize teamwork above all else so that you can effectively manage the undead hordes, rescue each other from danger, equip complementary upgrades, share your limited resources, and coordinate how you are going to achieve the various objectives. For a price, of course.Back 4 Blood technically has a single player offering for those who do not want to venture into public matchmaking lobbies, but it is far from a satisfying experience at the moment.īefore we rip into this lacklustre solo campaign, it is worth mentioning upfront that the zombie shooter is meant to be played cooperatively. Generally, it’s a decent co-operative zombie shoot ’em up, and “River of Blood” shows the studio is only too keen to add more content. In our review, we expressed concerns about weak AI, buggy gameplay, and inconsistent pacing, though it’s a little better these days. Upon its release last year, Back 4 Blood seemed to be lacking that certain magic that made the Left 4 Dead games, Valve’s spiritual predecessor to B4B, such a hit. During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to “enjoy the festive decorations” of Fort Hope, and engage in other activities befitting the December period. If that wasn’t enough, the Back 4 Blood Holiday Event will be returning at the same time, and will run through to January 4, 2023. This next offering will be rolling out on December 6, and will be available as a standalone purchase, or as part of the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game. This will be a co-operative PvE mode, in which you and your team can earn Supply Points throughout a “four-map chain.” Back 4 Blood has already had some DLC in the past: “Tunnels of Terror,” which released in April, and “Children of the Worm,” which came out in August.

On top of that, the DLC will also come with “Trials of the Worm,” which is a free update for the game. There’s also new weapons and weapon skins, accessories, and cards. There’s also a new cleaner called Tala who will, according to a recent press release, be accompanied by a “friendly Tallboy” called Jeff.
Called “River of Blood,” this next expansion will feature a brand-new campaign, which will have five maps. The folks at Turtle Rock Studios are keeping the Back 4 Blood train moving with the announcement of a third DLC coming soon.
